What Rockstar explained about the 3D map
In Famitsu’s August 28, 2026 interview, Rob Nelson describes a 3D map and explains that unexplored areas remain hidden until visited. He also places the story’s beginning in the Leonida Keys. This concerns how the world is represented and discovered, rather than publishing its dimensions or an official full-map download.
Exploration fog and access barriers are different
An area lacking detail on the map does not establish a physical barrier preventing entry. Interface visibility and character access are different rules. Nelson’s explanation supports revealing information by travelling, without establishing police checkpoints, mandatory missions or closed bridges for each region.

What a three-dimensional view can contribute
As a design possibility, a 3D view could help communicate elevation and relationships between roads and buildings. That is analysis, rather than a confirmed controls list. We do not give instructions for tilting the camera, enabling layers or plotting indoor routes, because the interview does not specify those menus.
The in-game map versus fan reconstructions
A reconstruction can reference official images while remaining an interpretation. Assess a fan tool through its methodology and the estimates it acknowledges. The existence of an in-game 3D map does not automatically validate every three-dimensional model circulating online.

How this will inform future guides
A useful exploration guide should distinguish a visited point, its displayed marker and access conditions. Publishing coordinates will require checking the in-game location, rather than resemblance to a photograph. The official landscapes accompanying this article are not map-interface screenshots and do not establish its final scale.
