Dog interactions have been shown

On August 27, 2026, GamesRadar+ reported options to praise, scold, pet or study a dog in GTA VI’s demonstration. This is a concrete example of the contextual interaction described by Rob Nelson. It supports discussing actions with that animal, rather than a complete list of purchasable pets.

Petting is not the same as adoption

An encounter can let you approach a dog without making it a permanent companion. Adoption would need rules for ownership, following, returning home or care; the cited sources do not document that package. A pet shop or a replacement for Chop cannot be announced on the basis of one interaction menu.

What the study option establishes

A study option establishes an interaction presented in the preview. It does not, by itself, establish a complete breed compendium, bonding levels or rewards for recording animals. Each would require a demonstrated result or a studio explanation. The distinction also keeps Leonida’s visible wildlife separate from a collection of pets.

Controls and scenes: preview limitations

Preview controls may change. We therefore do not turn a button combination in a PS5 frame into universal Xbox instructions. An actionable guide should identify platform and build before giving exact steps. FansGTA has not tested a final copy or verified these actions with every dog in the world.

Images and future checks

The images here are official GTA VI material illustrating wildlife and Leonida locations; they do not show the dog menu. Before publishing an adoption guide, we would check where an animal is obtained, whether it follows and what happens when switching protagonists. These are editorial checks, rather than promised features.
